Import Bank Statements into Xero

Xero's bank import wants a clean file, not a CSV cleanup session. Convert statement PDFs to OFX and let the reconciliation start from numbers that already tie out.

How to import a bank statement PDF into Xero

  1. Download the statement PDF from your bank's online banking.
  2. Upload it to BankSheet, review the verified grid, and export .ofx.
  3. In Xero: Bank Accounts → Manage Account → Import a Statement, choose the OFX file, and confirm the import.

Every export carries a reconciliation proof

✓ Opening balance + Σ transactions = closing balance — checked row by row before you export. If the math doesn't hold, you'll see exactly which cell is wrong.

Frequently asked

Does Xero accept OFX directly?

Yes — OFX is one of Xero's native statement import formats; transactions arrive with dates, amounts, and descriptions already typed.

What if my bank is on Xero feeds already?

Bank feeds cover going forward, not history. For backfilling months of statements, converting the PDFs keeps everything in one reconciliation.
